The Section is composed of approximately 60 staff members, including researchers, technologists, technicians, and administrative personnel, as well as about 180 associated researchers, including university faculty, postdoctoral fellows, PhD candidates, and students. This broad scientific community contributes significantly to research, education, and innovation activities.
The researchers of the Section are involved in numerous national and international collaborations, participating in experiments carried out at the INFN National Laboratories—particularly the National Laboratories of Frascati (LNF) and the National Laboratories of Gran Sasso (LNGS)—as well as at major international research centers, including CERN in Geneva, Fermilab in the United States, DESY in Germany, KEK in Japan, leading space agencies such as ASI, NASA, CNSA, JAXA, and other major laboratories and scientific observatories worldwide. Experimental groups based at the Section are active in the study of particle physics, astrophysics, nuclear physics, and applied physics. In the field of theoretical physics, the Section is active in research on string theories and lattice gauge theories.
The INFN Rome Tor Vergata Section is also strongly committed to the education and training of students and young researchers, supporting university courses, undergraduate and doctoral theses, and promoting scientific outreach and technology transfer activities, with the aim of spreading scientific culture and enhancing the impact of research on society.
